If you're gearing up for an unforgettable summer getaway to the mesmerizing Greek islands, you're in for an adventure and endless potential fashion moments! As you plan your sun-soaked escapade, we've got your back with this ultimate packing list tailored for style enthusiasts who prefer to pack light (for a 2-week trip) while still make a statement.
What to pack: Smart Luggage (1 checked bag and 1 carry on)
Before you break out your largest suitcases and start packing 6 pairs of heels because you “simply can’t decide”, keep in mind that it’s key to pack light. You’ll be lugging your belongings through airports, piling your bags in the bellies of ferries, scooting suitcases up cobblestone streets, and cramming bags into taxis.
Tips
1 suitcase and 1 carry on shoulder bag or backpack: Don’t overdo it on the luggage for ease of transport! AWAY Travel is our favorite option for luggage, you’ll be shocked how much you can fit in these suitcases.
What to pack: Stylish Swimwear (4-7 swimsuits)
Rule of thumb - you can never pack too many swimsuits for an island vacation, given you might hit the sea or pool daily and suits can be stuffed into purses to help keep their shape during transport.
Tips
Trendy bikinis, chic one-pieces, and playful cover-ups: Swimwear you feel confident in that you’ll wear from lounging by the beach to sipping cocktails at sunset beach bars.
Athletic swimsuits: these are handy if you plan to swim during boat days or go on watersport excursions.
What to pack: Lightweight and Flowy Clothing
Pack pieces that flow in the Aegean breeze and radiate effortless elegance – perfect for lounging beachside or posing against picturesque backdrops. Greece can get quite hot in the summer so you don’t want to wear anything too thick that you might sweat in.
Tips
Linen: pack 2-3 linen button downs to pair over swimsuits or over sundresses if it gets breezy and to protect your skin at the beach.
Coverups: bring along 3-4 lightweight cover ups for the pool, beach, boat, or outdoor exploration. You’ll be surprised how practical a sarong can be on the trip, especially to protect yourself from sun exposure.
Sundresses: The easiest outfit to pack is a quick dress. They don’t take up much space and can easily be re-worn throughout the trip! To give off an extra glamorous look, pack 2-3 lightweight maxi dresses. Mykonos has several shops that sell handmade maxi dresses and linen outfits.
Matching sets: If you don’t want to plan outfits for beach clubs or dinner, 2 pieces can save time and give a polished, put together look.
What to pack: Bags (2-4)
Ditch the bulky purses and opt for a beach bag and a crossbody bag to bring beach items and essentials while you wander through picturesque villages or dance the night away at beach clubs and nightclubs.
Tips
Crossbody or fanny pack: Opt for a small purse in a neutral color to match with multiple outfits
Beach bag: You’ll need a larger bag to carry a towel, sunscreen, wallet, and games. MC2 St. Barth beach bags are the most popular beach bags seen all across Greek isles. It’s the perfect size and I highly recommend it. There are several stores in Mykonos and Antiparos where you can purchase limited edition totes.
Coin purse: when traveling through Europe you’ll start collecting many coins and a small coin purse keeps your crossbody bag organized.
What to pack: Shoes (3-4 pairs)
Opt for stylish yet comfortable footwear that will keep your feet happy as you stroll through cobblestone streets and along the beach.
Tips
Sneakers: Bring a pair that lend well to walking down cobblestone streets during the day and can also be worn for workouts. To save space, wear sneakers while in transportation.
Sandals: Pack a neutral color of sandals for the beach, pool, and boat days.
Heels: I wore woven straw platform heels almost every night as they were easier to walk in on cobblestone streets and grip the scooter in transport to dinners. You can also pack a pair of 1-3 inch heels for fancier dinners.
What to pack: Skin Protectant
The sun in Greece is very strong. Prepare ahead of time by packing sun protection essentials so you don’t waste any time on the trip treating a sunburn!
Tips
Sunscreen: If you love a particular brand, ensure to re-up the supply and bring it with you. I love the Supergood Glow screen as it is slightly tinted and can replace foundation, and the Australian Gold sunscreen has instant bronzing.
After sun lotion: If you did catch too much sun, be prepared with effective moisturizers!
Moisturizing skincare: The air in Greece and flight travel can dehydrate your skin, make sure to pack skincare and keep your skin moisturized.
Sunhat: Any style hat would work, just make sure to bring one to protect your face.
Sunglasses: Sunglasses are the perfect beach accessory and can change the look of any outfit. Bring a mix of styles to mix and match with different looks.
What to pack: Beach and Travel Entertainment
Tips
Playing cards: Cards bring people together and are a great way to make friends. We couldn’t get in enough daily games of Monopoly Deal and Uno!
Beach read (book or Kindle): Bring a few light beach reads to devour as you soak in the sun.
Colleen Hoover or Freida McFadden books!
Waterproof portable speaker: Necessary for hotel room pre-games and the JBL clip is easy to travel with by attaching to any bag.
Portable backgammon: A chic and portable beachside game.
